the gluten dude blog
I started this blog in October of 2011. Why? I had a lot to say about living with celiac disease. And what I was mostly finding online did not align with my feelings and experiences of being gluten-free and dealing with the trials and tribulations of our fun little autoimmune disease. And while it took me a bit of time, I found my voice and an awesome community.
Over 780 blog posts and 36,000 comments later, while I may have slowed down my pace a bit, the journey continues. You can select a category or month below, use the search icon above or just browse around. Either way...enjoy and I hope it helps you in your journey.
Yes…a rare weekend post from the Gluten Dude. But when I received the following message on Facebook, I felt an urgency to try to get some advice for this troubled mom as soon as humanly possible. So if you happen to be online today […]
Read MoreIt’s really not that hard to do the right thing. Honestly, it’s not. All you need to do is figure out what would piss the most people off and then NOT DO THAT. But it seems the folks at the Celiac Awareness Tour (now […]

Read MoreI thought long and hard about writing this post, as it deals with another “celiac isn’t a real disease” article somebody on Facebook sent to me. I’m very aware of linking too much negativity with our disease and the last thing I want to […]
Read MoreThere are so many lame attempts at gluten-free humor out there. Most of it is just mean-spirited because it’s done by people who don’t have gluten issues. Here is a perfect example. It is so lame…and it’s done by a, cough-cough, comedy troupe. But […]
Read MoreWhat kind of (Gluten Free) Society are we living in?? I’ve been meaning to blog about this site for awhile. The time is now ripe. The site I’m referring to is GlutenFreeSociety.org. The person running that atrocity is Dr. (and I use that term […]

Read MoreI can put up with a lot of the celiac disease symptoms: the stomach pain, the joint pain, etc. I can tolerate the inconvenience of our disease when it comes to food. I can handle all of the crap that comes with celiac…except one […]
Read MoreOk…see if you can following the bouncing ball. Corona is not a gluten-free beer. But it has been tested to under 20ppm, so it is a gluten-free beer. Yet it’s made with barley, so it’s not a gluten-free beer. But according to the FDA, […]

Read MoreI do my best to not make this blog about me. It’s about us. Our community. And today’s post is no different. Yes…I have survived two years of blogging about all things celiac and gluten-free. I’m quite proud of that. But I didn’t make […]

Read MoreWho I am. And who I'm not.
I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.
I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.
Send me a message
I'm all ears
