I Tried Udi’s New Bread (so you don’t have to)

March 6, 2018 | 69 Comments

Before I dig into my review of Udi’s new gluten-free bread, a few disclaimers. Disclaimer: This is not an Udi’s hit piece. I have (deservedly) slammed them a number of times over the years. This is an actual honest review. Disclaimer: I don’t eat […]

Dude…Should I Buy the Nima Sensor??

January 27, 2017 | 25 Comments

When I went to journalism school (#alternativefact), I was taught to open an article with a question, draw the audience in, discuss my thoughts, and then at the end of the article, answer the question. But I’m going to reverse that school of thought […]

It’s true what they say. You cannot truly appreciate something until it’s taken away from you. Back in the PC days (pre-celiac), when I went out to eat, I perused the menu and ordered whatever I felt like that night. But celiac took that […]

July 23, 2013 | 56 Comments

The good folks at Tim Horton’s reached out to me last week and asked if they could send me their new Gluten-Free Coconut Macaroons. As I tell all companies who want to send me samples, I said I’d be happy to try them but […]

I Have Tasted the Future of Gluten-Free Beer and Its Name is Harvester Brewing

Yes…I know…another Springsteen reference. What can I say? We both grew up in Freehold, NJ and his music just speaks to me. And for those who don’t understand how the blog title has anything to do with Springsteen, that is just a reminder that […]

Hello Gluten Free Labels. Goodbye Tape & Sharpies.

May 1, 2013 | 12 Comments

This is one of those ideas that seems so obvious, I’m kicking myself for not coming up with it first. As we’ve discussed many times in the past, it’s not just accidentally eating gluten that can make us sick. The cross-contamination risk poses just […]

Eat Your Gluten-Free Pizza Naked

July 20, 2012 | 30 Comments

I miss pizza. I really miss pizza. But there are some things about the pizza I used to have pre-celiac days that I don’t miss. The grease. The calories. The feeling like crap afterwards. Well…we are entering what I hope is a new dawn […]

Gluten-Free Beer: A New Era

July 11, 2012 | 150 Comments

My name is Gluten Dude and I’m a beer snob. It wasn’t always this way. My dad drank Carling’s Black Label while I was growing up so that was my first exposure to beer. Although calling Black Label beer is being generous. He’d give […]

Review: The Gluten-Free Bar (and an Ugly Sweater Goes to the Movies)

June 19, 2012 | 35 Comments

Ok…The Gluten Dude is jumping into the product review business. Well, I wouldn’t really call it a business ’cause, you know, I’m not making any money on it or anything. But lately I’ve been getting samples sent to me. It’s pretty cool. But I […]

Who I am. And who I'm not.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.

I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.
