the gluten dude blog
I started this blog in October of 2011. Why? I had a lot to say about living with celiac disease. And what I was mostly finding online did not align with my feelings and experiences of being gluten-free and dealing with the trials and tribulations of our fun little autoimmune disease. And while it took me a bit of time, I found my voice and an awesome community.
Over 780 blog posts and 36,000 comments later, while I may have slowed down my pace a bit, the journey continues. You can select a category or month below, use the search icon above or just browse around. Either way...enjoy and I hope it helps you in your journey.
I was diagnosed with celiac disease 8 years ago this week. Happy Celianniversary to me. Happy Gluten Freenaversary to me. Happy 8 Years Later and I Still Hate Itaversary to me. Thanks. Do you know one of the main reasons I started this blog […]
Read MoreBetween Cheerios, the media, Udi’s, and some ridiculous infighting within the celiac community, there has been an aura of negativity surrounding my advocacy lately. I’m not a negative guy. I just can’t stand BS and I can’t stand injustice. So if I see it, […]
Read MoreI love your emails. I love them so much that I will never delete them without answering every one of them. Then life happens and all of the sudden I’ve got gobs of emails to go through. And like anything else that over-accumulates, the […]

Read MoreWow. Seriously…just wow. I’ve been railing against the media for four years on this blog. You’d think in those four years, things would get better. You’d think the media would realize that celiac disease is serious shit and gluten-free is nothing to make fun […]
Read MoreThere are weeks when being a celiac advocate, or any kind of advocate I would think, can be a total drag. You put yourself out there and get very little in return. And there are weeks like this one, when it ain’t so bad. […]

Jerk: a contemptibly naive, fatuous, foolish, or inconsequential person. Given the two options above, would you rather be considered a) […]
Read MoreA rare Sunday post I know. But did you know that today is Celiac Awareness Day? No…really…there’s such a thing. Pretty cool. Anyway, I couldn’t let the day go by without acknowledging this thing called celiac disease. But rather than me blather on and […]
Read MoreWhat a bizarre and uncomfortable night out I had last Friday. Let me rephrase that. I had a great time with the people I was with, but as far as the celiac stuff is concerned? Total Twilight Zone. Before the night started, Mrs. Dude […]

Read MoreI think most of us have seen, or at least heard of, signs like the two above. They seem to be all the rage these days. “Gluten-free haircuts.” “Gluten-free oil change.” “The Ford Fiesta: 45mpg and Gluten-Free.” The celiac community seems to fall into […]

Read MoreWho I am. And who I'm not.
I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.
I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.
Send me a message
I'm all ears
