April 5, 2013 | 70 Comments

I took an awesome yoga class tonight. At the end of the class we did some deep breathing and were instructed to “inhale love and exhale gratitude.” I love that. Inhale love and exhale gratitude. Imagine if we could all do that all day […]

Lucy's Granola is ALMOST Gluten Free and Yet it's Still Safe for Celiacs? Really??

April 4, 2013 | 57 Comments

I’m not a mean-spirited guy. Honestly, I’m not. I’m a really nice guy. If I had friends you could ask them. (A classic line from the movie Splash.) I don’t enjoy taking small companies to task. But if my choice is between calling out […]

The South Beach Diet Goes Gluten Free

April 3, 2013 | 39 Comments

23,000,000. That’s the number of book sales for the original South Beach Diet by Dr. Arthur Agatston. Not too shabby. I once wrote a book called The Bartender’s Handbook: Making Drinks and Making Money. I think it had about 23 sales. Very shabby. I […]

I have never tried a Bob’s Red Mill product. I’ve heard they were a good company run by good people. Since the day I was diagnosed with this crappy disease, I’ve heard that they were the answer to a celiac’s dreams. Tastes great. Completely […]

Dear Gluten Dude: Where Do I Look For Hidden Gluten??

March 26, 2013 | 86 Comments

One of the many, many frustrating things about celiac disease is that you can get glutened and you can have no friggin’ idea where it came from. It happened to me last month and though I’m almost recovered, I still have no idea how […]

Who I am. And who I'm not.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.

I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.
