Love and Dating in a Gluten-Free Life

June 18, 2012 | 52 Comments

I was more than blessed enough to be married already when I was diagnosed with celiac disease. I can’t imagine dating while dealing with the food issues we’ve got to deal with. As Mrs. Dude says jokingly (I think)…”Good luck finding somebody who will […]

Dear Gluten Dude: How Do I Deal With Insensitive Comments?

June 15, 2012 | 59 Comments

People are idiots. Not me of course. And certainly not you. But everyone else? Idiots. How else to explain the utterly ridiculous comments that so many celiacs must put up with? Come on people…common sense and common courtesy really aren’t that difficult. We’re not […]

So my doctor’s assistant called me yesterday with the results of my endoscopy and the associated biopsy. She said I am not showing any signs of “celiac sprue”, as she called it. Stomach looks good. Villi are just fine…thank you for asking. For a […]

Dear Gluten Dude: I am Gluten Intolerant. What Should I do When Eating Out?

June 8, 2012 | 30 Comments

First, a quick Dude health update: I went to see my GI yesterday. He says something is definitely going on, but it is not necessarily the celiac. My blood work from a few months back showed no gluten antibodies, so it’s not hidden gluten […]

How’s that for a headline? I bet you can go the next nine years and never see the words “gluten free”, “sex” and “$27” in the same sentence. So what if I was to tell you I could show you how to have safe, […]

I know. I know. There are three things you shouldn’t discuss, or in my case blog about, if you don’t want to get into an argument. Politics, sex and religion. And believe me, I’m not looking for an argument, but I just couldn’t let […]

Who I am. And who I'm not.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.

I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.
