Media
Ugh…the media. What a disaster of a ride it’s been with them when it comes to celiac disease. From Jimmy Kimmel to Dr. Oz to Disney to the Today Show and on and on and on. Here…I do my best to take them all to task with the ultimate goal of getting people to take our disease more seriously.
So I was on Twitter last week when I came across a post by my friends at Celiac.com. (Note: They’re not my friends. And yes…I know Twitter is a cesspool, but it allows me to stay in touch with the celiac community.) The post […]
Read MoreI’m warning you ahead of time…this post may be a bit sloppy and all over the place (kinda like my sex life when I was younger) as I’m still trying to grapple with my thoughts behind it. Ok…here we go. As most of you […]
Read MoreHey Joe, Do you know there are now two great songs titled “Hey Joe”? Of course, there is the classic Jimi Hendrix version. And then the recent one by Caamp. Awesome song. The last line of the song goes: Hey Joe, I got one […]
Read MoreThis is not a rant. Since the gluten-free bashing has been going on for years and years, I’ve sadly become pretty numb to it. So as you read this, picture me using my quiet voice; the one where I’m just out of words to […]
Read MoreParty City has had a rough day. You know…with the whole ‘celiacs are gross’ thing. So I thought I’d write a poem to cheer them up. —— Hey Party City How was your day? Like the Southwest Airlines ad I’m sure you just want […]
Read MoreJust when you think we’ve hit rock bottom…the bar keeps getting lowered. I thought it was bad when The Today Show called celiac a new trendy disease. I thought it was bad when The Today Show said we were picky eaters. I thought it […]
Read More(Dude note: The following appears in the current issue of Simply Gluten-Free magazine, a magazine that will not take Cheerios’ advertising dollars. Please check them out.) When I was diagnosed will celiac disease in 2007, I had never heard of the word “gluten” before. […]
Read MoreBack in 2014, there was an article on Huffington Post titled “Why Do Your Kid’s Allergies Mean My Kid Can’t Have a Birthday?” It was a pathetic display of journalism and I gave the author the beat down she deserved. Oddly enough, the Huff […]
Read MoreWell this is ugly. The Spectator magazine, around since 1828 with a paid circulation of 72,000 and a popular website, recently ran an article by one Melissa Kite titled “The dietary obnoxiousness of the Catholic Church”, with a lovely byline that reads “Gluten-free Eucharist? […]
Read MoreSo…the Emmy’s were on last night. Did I watch them? Nope. No interest. It’s just a big celebrity circle-jerk. Jimmy Kimmel was the host. Kimmel has a history of making fun of gluten-free people. But I figured the gluten jokes have gotten old and […]
Read MoreWho I am. And who I'm not.

I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.
I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.
Send me a message
I'm all ears
