Media

Ugh…the media. What a disaster of a ride it’s been with them when it comes to celiac disease. From Jimmy Kimmel to Dr. Oz to Disney to the Today Show and on and on and on. Here…I do my best to take them all to task with the ultimate goal of getting people to take our disease more seriously.

‘Glutened’: A short film about celiac disease (that I love!)

May 21, 2021 | 22 Comments

This is cool. Like really, really cool. Not only do we have a film that gives a realistic look at celiac (coeliac) disease, but it’s done in a creative, artistic way. The name of the film is Glutened and it is described by Hayley […]

I’m going to tell you a story. I take no pleasure in writing this story, but it’s an important story. It’s a sad story. It’s a story of deceit and betrayal. It has villains. It has heroes. And it has a lesson of morality. […]

What Happened to Celiac.com?

How the mighty have fallen. Flashback: I was diagnosed with celiac disease in (…trying to remember the exact date/month…) September of 2007. I was sick as a dog. I was confused. I was angry. And I was lost. No…I wasn’t lost in the flood. […]

July 23, 2019 | 20 Comments

So I was on Twitter last week when I came across a post by my friends at Celiac.com. (Note: They’re not my friends. And yes…I know Twitter is a cesspool, but it allows me to stay in touch with the celiac community.) The post […]

May 10, 2019 | 26 Comments

I’m warning you ahead of time…this post may be a bit sloppy and all over the place (kinda like my sex life when I was younger) as I’m still trying to grapple with my thoughts behind it. Ok…here we go. As most of you […]

Who I am. And who I'm not.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.

I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.
