Celiac
First things first. If the above picture makes absolutely no sense, stop reading this immediately and go watch History of the World: Part 1. You’re welcome. So for those unaware, I’ve been working on an eBook for a few months now. The hope is […]
Read MoreLet me just clarify what this is about right away. This is not about who makes the best gluten-free bread. It’s not just about the “horror” of the holes in Udi’s bread. That’s been discussed here and here. Yeah…I know there are much worse […]
Read MoreSo May 1 kicks off another celiac awareness month. I always get a little torn about this month. Too many in the community use it as a month to promote shitty gluten-free foods, which not only doesn’t help raise awareness, but also is not […]
Read MoreFor those of you who follow me on Facebook (bless your little hearts), you knew I was having a procedure yesterday. For the rest of you…ummm…I was having a procedure yesterday. Now that we’re all on the same page, here’s how it all went […]
Read MoreBeing a celiac means considering things that others don’t have to. It doesn’t mean living in fear, but it certainly means living in a state of heightened awareness. Take this fellow celiac’s dilemma: Hey Gluten Dude, I have to admit this isn’t how I […]
Read MoreAbout 20 years ago, when I was living in New York City as a struggling (doesn’t even begin to describe it) artist, I ate a chicken salad sandwich at a nearby diner. Tasted…ok. About 5 hours later, it hit me. Boy…did it hit me. […]
Read More“We’re in the middle of a slow, simmering epidemic.” – Dr. John Garber, Massachusetts General Hospital, speaking about celiac disease. Quite the interesting article about celiac disease on CNN.com today. And no…it’s not fake news! It’s a pretty long article so I’m not going […]
Read MoreThis is not a “SH*T…I have celiac disease and my life sucks” kind of post. But it’s a “Crap…when I have a good stretch, celiac will always remind me it’s there. Always.” kind of post. And I indeed have had an amazing stretch. Fall […]
Read MoreI was laying bed last night at the ungodly hour of 3am wide awake. After another brutally long work day, my mind was simply too wired to fall into a slumber. I learned a trick many years ago if you have having trouble falling […]
Read MoreThis is not a political post…so yes, feel free to continue. On Wednesday morning, I wrote the following on my Facebook wall: I’m going dark for a bit as I try to process what happened last night and also try to figure out what […]
Read MoreWho I am. And who I'm not.
I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.
I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.

I'm all ears
