Living With Celiac Disease

Let's Write a Book Together! I'm Calling It 'Celiac Disease: The Manual'

August 8, 2014 | 151 Comments

There is no manual for living with celiac disease. No how-to guide to navigate your new life. I assume when you received your diagnosis, you got pretty much the exact same instructions from your doctor that I got from mine: Don’t eat gluten. So […]

“Sooooooo I’m dying again. I went gluten free about 6 months after a celiac diagnosis and it helped for a little while but things are taking a turn for the worse. I’m 18, I don’t smoke or drink or have sex with random strangers […]

So yesterday, I spent a great day with one of my Dudettes at her college freshman orientation. Yes…I have an 18 year old. No…I have NO IDEA how that happened. Anyway, when everyone arrived, we all piled into the auditorium and the person running […]

I love your celiac stories. Every damn one of them. Though I might not comment on all of them (the Dude is a busy, busy man), I do read them all and respond when I can. There are some stories that just grab me […]

Hey everyone…where have you been? Just kidding. I’ve been off the radar for a bit. Too much going on in my life right now and something had to take a back seat. And the last thing I want to do is post something just […]

I know…I know. “What the heck are you talking about Gluten Dude? Aren’t you the biggest REACTOR in the world?” For the record…no…that would be Kashiwazaki-Kariwa in Japan. But I digress. So do you see that image above? That is a label from a […]

It’s been a long month here at the Dude Ranch. Lots of blog posts for Celiac Awareness Month. And lots of BS that went along with it. Some saying I’m being too negative. Really? Helping 30 celiacs in 30 days is being negative. Why? […]

Why Doesn't the Military Accept Those With Celiac Disease?

March 7, 2014 | 81 Comments

I am always impressed/amazed at people who want to sign up with the military to defend our country, putting themselves at risk to serve the greater good. There is no bigger sacrifice. And with our country’s dubious history of getting involved or starting wars […]

Because my audience keeps growing, every once in awhile I’ll post on Facebook an older article that I’ve written. Yesterday, I linked to the Doctor Horror Stories our community has shared. And holy moly…what a response. So many stories…so much heartbreak. And all of […]

Gluten Dude: The mobile app that puts your safety first!

All the tools you need for a simpler gluten-free journey, brought to you by a passionate celiac disease advocate who understands the challenges you face.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.

I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.
