Dr. Axe lies to the celiac community for profit

sourdough bread is not gluten-free

Dr. Axe.
Dr. Oz.
Dr. Phil.

What do all of these “doctors” have in common? They are all willing to sell their soul for money. I’ve already written about Dr. Oz. Dr. Phil gives me the serious heebie jeebies. So today, we’ll talk about Dr. Quack…I mean Dr. Axe.

He did a video a few weeks ago claiming that people with celiac disease can safely eat sourdough bread because of the fermentation process. It’s a lie. It’s not safe. This myth keeps popping up for some reason and even some celiacs claim it’s true. Again…sourdough bread is not gluten-free and is certainly not celiac-safe. It’s been debunked by experts who have done serious testing over and over again. “Safe” means under 20ppm gluten. What did sourdough bread come back at? Over 180,000ppm.

So in response to his video to his 996k followers(!), I responded with a little video of my own. Have a watch.

No matter how many influencers 🤢 tell you that sourdough bread can be eaten safely by those with celiac disease, it is 100% bullshit. Don’t listen to Dr. Axe or any other of these scam artists.

I made my point and moved on (though still pissed off about it.)

But then I start to get messages. A lot of messages. All asking why he would mislead the celiac community so badly when we would get really, really sick from eating sourdough bread. So I decided to make a second video where I discuss that.

@glutendude

My final word on Dr. Axe and how he sadly profits off of spewing bullshit. And in this specific case…on the backs of the celiac community. Not only was his original video on sourdough bread misinformed and dangerous, it was also shared by thousands of people, some of them telling their celiac friends “see you can eat sourdough bread!” These people seriously need to stay in their own lane.

I hope I made myself clear.

Please…I beg of you…don’t listen to these scammers who say they have a cure for pretty much everything under the sun and then try to sell you their bullshit.

Back in the day they were called snake oil salesmen. Today they’re called influencers.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.

I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.
