Introducing the Gluten Dude Forum: Connect With Your Fellow Celiacs

Gluten Dude, Phase 2 has officially kicked off.

When I launched my new site at the end of 2014, I asked you wonderful people what you’d like to see on my site besides my blog. Because lord knows, listening to me can get tiresome after awhile. Just ask Mrs. Dude 😉

The biggest request, by far, was to have a forum where you can converse among yourselves. Well…here we are seven months later and I finally found the time to make this happen.

I proudly present: The Gluten Dude Forum. (You can also access it via the navigation menus up top.)

I’m sure I’ll be tinkering with this is the coming weeks, but there are two sections of the gluten-free forum that I am very excited about.

Connect With Celiacs Your Age

celiac forumSometimes you just want to talk to someone who GETS you. Your mom and dad not quite understanding your celiac disease? Connect with other kids in the same boat. Are you a college student having a hard time navigating the gluten-free life? There are others out there. Are you a parent with a newly diagnosed celiac child? Find other parents who have been there and can help you. Are you in your golden years and looking for a celiac to connect with? This forum is for you.

Connect With Celiacs in Your Area

Sometimes, an online connection isn’t enough. Find a fellow celiac in your town and meet up for coffee. A great restaurant in your area? Do tell. Know of a good local celiac support group? Don’t be shy. Can you recommend a local doctor who understands celiac? Share, share, share. I’ve created a section for each U.S. State, as well as Canada and Outside the U.S.

In addition to the two items above, I’ve also included forums for:

Travel Success (& Horror) Stories: Been traveling gluten-free? Tell us how it went.

Restaurant Reviews: Had a gluten-free meal out? How did the restaurant do?

Recipes & Baking Tips: Creating gluten-free magic in the kitchen? Share your secrets.

Anything Goes: Got a question? A rant? A story? Go for it.

This forum is for you. I want you to want to use it and benefit from it. So if there is anything missing/wrong/broken/whatever, please tell me. If you have some suggestions on how to make it better, please tell me. If there is some unscrupulous activity going on, please tell me.

I will not have the time to moderate the forum that much, and I know forums can get out of control at times, so I’m hoping our community can help police it a bit. And if anybody would like to volunteer their time to keep an eye on things here and there, please contact me.

I know right now the forum is a ghost town and it may be a bit intimidating to be the first to start a new topic. Just look at it this way. It’s a blank canvas and you can paint it any way you like.

Have fun and I sincerely hope it helps you on your gluten-free journey.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.

I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.
