New! Get your questions answered by a dietitian with celiac disease.

celiac and nutrition

When I was diagnosed, my doc told me I had celiac disease (I had what???) and then politely showed me the door with the advice of “don’t eat gluten” (don’t eat what???). No literature. No guidance. No follow up. And mind you…I liked my doctor. And I know I’m not alone in this. Many of us were sent off into this unknown wilderness with zero knowledge of what to do next, except avoid gluten at all costs.

Ok…great. No gluten. But then what SHOULD we eat to help heal our bodies and overcome the havoc celiac has played on our insides? I know I made a lot of awful choices. I was eating wrong and I paid the price for years. Imagine if I had a guiding hand to help me on that food journey in my early years.

I’d like to offer you that helping hand now. I have a added a new feature on my mobile app called Ask the Dietitian. Let me introduce you to Erin, a fellow celiac, a registered dietitian, founder of The Celiac Space, and all around good human being. Erin will be the one answering your important questions on the app. Take it away Erin (and thank you!).

Who I am. And who I'm not.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.

I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.
