What the Hell is Hank Campbell Talking About??

August 30, 2012 | 81 Comments

Ok…I’ve got a new rule that is in effect as of today. The only people who are allowed to write articles about celiac disease are either medical professionals who understand the disease (and believe me, these are few and far between) and those actually […]

Life can be rough for us all. There’s no doubt that most of us have our serious ups and downs; emotionally, physically, financially, whatever. We deal with celiac, on top of whatever else life decides to throw at us. But even at our worst […]

My 24-Hour (Hissy-Fit) Fast

So recently, every meal hurts my stomach. Every…single…meal. It really takes a lot of the joy out of eating, wouldn’t you say? Tuesday night, I worked late and ended up making myself a fantabulous pasta dish with sun-dried tomatoes, corn and mushrooms in a […]

A Q&A with Shannon Ford: Mrs. United States 2011 and Fellow Celiac

August 7, 2012 | 6 Comments

After way too many stories of celebrities embracing gluten-free as the end-all, be-all healthy diet, we finally have a public figure stepping up for celiac awareness. I think I speak for many of us when I say…IT’S ABOUT TIME! Let’s have a big, warm, […]

The Worst Video EVER on Going Gluten-Free

August 1, 2012 | 38 Comments

It’s no big secret that I hate our media. I think they have way too much control in our society and if they are not trying to sway people in one direction, they are scraping the bottom of the barrel for a buck. Even […]

Celiac Blows…Deal With It!

July 29, 2012 | 115 Comments

As each day passes, I seem to lose more and more faith in humanity. On Saturday, we had a reader who complained about some of the colorful language used on this blog and she said unless it was cleaned up and I moderated the […]

Celiac Disease: Is This as Good as it Gets?

July 13, 2012 | 60 Comments

A month or so ago, I was in the midst of a pretty crappy stretch health-wise and went all-out to find a cause and a solution for my health woes. Truthfully, it’s been up and down since my diagnosis in 2007 and I simply […]

A Cure for Celiac Disease: An Endoscopy?

July 9, 2012 | 36 Comments

“Dude…you’re an idiot. You’ve got that totally backwards! An endoscopy is a way to diagnose celiac disease; not treat it.” That may be true (both parts actually), but hear me out. If you recall from last month, I was going through a very rough […]

Who I am. And who I'm not.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.

I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.
