It’s real easy to get fat and lazy on vacation. You’ve got nothing to do and all day to do it. Throw in a bunch of meals and cocktails starting at noon and before you know it, you need a whole new outfit for the trip home, one size up.
Don’t fall into the trap. I don’t care if you’re gluten free, dairy free, soy free, drug free or free for dinner; keep moving. Keep active. Make sure you get at least a little exercise each day. Yesterday was an extremely active day (and my back is actually paying the price a bit today…hello Mr. Vicodin.)
Here’s a quick recap of moving day:
10:00-11:00: In the weight room.
11:00-11:15: Running the steepest hill I have ever been on 6 times. How steep? Here you go (this is actually the driveway leading down to our place…forgive the unseemly panting.):
11:20-11:25: Dry heaving (just kidding…sort of).
11:45-12:45: Yoga. This was actually my first yoga class ever. Some of the stretches felt awesome. Others I’m still recovering from. And still others I couldn’t comprehend. Put my leg where??
1:15-2:00: Lunch break. Thanks Chef Kate for my gluten free meals all week. Have I told you how much I love you!!
4:00: A ten minute walk to the beach. First up the same steep hill and then way, way downhill the rest of the time (but what goes down must come up…see below).
4:15:-4:45: Body surfing in some pretty rough surf. May not sound like it, but quite the workout.
4:45-5:00: Taxi!! No…we walked up the hill from hell to get back home.
So how did I reward myself after such an active day? I will give you one clue…
