Wanna Chat??

chat room for celiac disease

August 2021 update: I did not build a chat room on this website. But I did better. I created a mobile app that includes private chat. You can see all of details at https://glutendude.app.

So I’ve got a bit of a dilemma. I’m out of hours. Meaning there is only so much I can squeeze into a day without my head exploding. Which means I don’t have time to answer all of your awesome emails I receive. And I hate leaving people hanging.

So as I say to the Dudettes all the time…”Every problem has a solution.”

I created the forums in the hopes that the community could help each other through my site, without me necessarily needing to be involved all the time. And you folks have responded oh so well. Over 600 users have signed up in the short time its been live and over 800 conversations have been started. Very cool.

But sometimes folks need a quick answer. Or they want to connect one on one with somebody in private. Or they just want to have a real conversation (well…a real ONLINE conversation.) Or they just want to witter away some hours talking about celiac or anything else on their mind.

So that got me thinking. What is this website missing that would allow all of the above? The light bulb went off (a rarity). REAL TIME CHAT.

I’d add a chat feature that would offer group chat, private chat, file sharing, etc. I did some research and I did not find anything else out there. Pretty cool, right? The downside? It costs money. No, I would not charge anybody to use it. I would cover the cost for your benefit. But for me to take on the expense, I’d want to make sure it would be used.

  1. Hi,

As a celiac youth, I’d really appreciate an online chat. I’ve been celiac since I was 6 and have often struggled to find people who can relate to my issues and challenges.

    1. Hi, I just got diagnosed yesterday so it’s kinda scary for me. I’ve been trying to find anyone who I can relate to but no one I know has it. I’m also part of the youth, so it would be fun to chat.

  2. WHEN WILL THIS HAPPEN!? a chatroom would be a nice help for the uncommon gluten intolerant people as well as celiac diagnosed people.

    1. Also for restaurant training! I don’t think anyone understands celiac like a celiac or highly intolerant . I can get severely ill after eating a little gluten but like I think that is usual?? I can go 3 months then it hits! Anyone else?

  3. Hi, My dr sent my 19yr old for a gluten blood test and her agi came back at .9 g/ml my Question is reading more into this she had no idea to eat gluten for several weeks before the test. gluten products make her feel like her insides are turning inside out, so she avoids it like the plague. Should I push for a retest, or would this AGi number not be that bad if she had eaten small amounts over the last few weeks. sorry new to this, just trying to find some answers. thank you in advance for any info

    1. Hi Jen. For the tests to be accurate, she had to have been eating gluten each day. I’m not exactly sure how much or for how long. Good luck to both of you.

  4. Hello i just had a lasagna and could not get the packaging open. Unfortunately i managed to open it with my hand but my thumb landed in the lasagna. Should i be worried? I did wipe down the plastic container and the plastic container was covered by cardboard. Also my hands were washed. Thanks.

    1. Please tell me if it is OK to eat fried fish from chicken exress their breading is cornmeal however in a 25 pound bag there is 3 percent of wheat in it. It is the very last ingredient listed on ingred. List.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

Who I am. And who I'm not.

I AM someone who's been gluten-free since 2007 due to a diagnosis of severe celiac disease. I'm someone who can steer you in the right direction when it comes to going gluten-free. And I'm someone who will always give you the naked truth about going gluten free.

I AM NOT someone who embraces this gluten-free craziness. I didn’t find freedom, a better life or any of that other crap when I got diagnosed. With all due respect to Hunter S. Thompson, I found fear and loathing of an unknown world. But if I can share my wisdom, tell my stories and make the transition easier on you, I’ve done my job.
