You think it’s hard finding a restaurant to avoid cross contamination, try eating in a fire station kitchen. 34 years in and my eating habits have changed drastically. Any other firefighters out there?

I wondered how that would work. My husband is a FF. When it is his turn to bring food in for the shift he has to store it away from the GF food in our refrigerator. He also can’t bring anything home from the station. There is one FF on his shift who has celiac but doesn’t adhere to the diet (said its too hard at work).

We work 48/72. I have a microwave and fridge that is only for gf food. The department bought me my own pots and pans. I brought in my own silverware and cleaning supplies. I usually cook my food in the kitchen before the other ff’s get in the kitchen. 80 percent of the time it’s easier to just cook my food at home and then heat it up in my microwave.
