There are weeks when being a celiac advocate, or any kind of advocate I would think, can be a total drag. You put yourself out there and get very little in return.
And there are weeks like this one, when it ain’t so bad.
Let’s take a journey through my week, shall we? It started yesterday and culminates next Saturday.

Sunday Afternoon: Lunch at Senza Gluten
Mrs. Dude and I made it up to the city…once again. And Mrs. Dude and I made it into Senza Gluten…once again. I’m surprised they haven’t started charging us rent yet ๐
Not only did we enjoy an amazing meal, we were blessed to have the company of Jemiko (the owner) and Teona (the manager). As I’ve said before, passion about what they are doing oozes out of their souls and I LOVE being around passionate people. I cannot thank them enough for their SAFE restaurant, their FANTASTIC food and their WARM company. Here is a sampling of what we had. Drool away.
Sunday Evening: A Gluten-Free Brooklyn Rooftop Party
What’s better than hanging on a rooftop with a supermoon and a lunar eclipse going on? How about when there is a surprise birthday party and all of the food is gluten-free? Thursday Evening: VIP Blogger Happy Hour
Not sure if you remember, but back in November (no this is not a rhyme), I interviewed the founders of 6SensorLabs, who were working on a sensor that would detect food allergens within a few minutes. The allergen they are starting with is gluten (yay us!). Well…the product is getting close to market and they are having a little gathering of bloggers for a happy hour, which will include wine, spirits and lots of gluten-free hors dโoeuvres from celebrity chef Charles Chen. And most importantly, there will be a demo of the Nima (that’s what they’re calling the product.) I am VERY curious and will give you all a full report.
Saturday: The Gluten-Free Expo in Secaucus NJ
My week comes full circle and ends in beautiful downtown Secaucus, NJ for the gluten-free Expo. The Expo runs both this coming Saturday and Sunday. I don’t make my way to many of these, but since this one is pretty close to home, I figured what the heck. It’s always good to meet up with some vendors and fellow celiacs. Plus my buddies from Udi’s will be there ๐

Yeah…quite curious about the food sensor too. And even if it works, would I still use it (cost, convenience, etc.)?
Can’t wait to hear about the food sensor! And as someone who can’t eat out in her area (no safe options) all that safe, gluten free food made me drool. SO JEALOUS!!!! I think I need to move to one of the coasts. . .
Oh my goodness everything looks sooooooo yummy!!! I super excited about the food sensor, I so hope it works!! I could have tested the gluten free apple cinnamon cheerios that kept me cuddling up to the porcelain throne for 2 days! LOL!!

i read it only detects gluten above 20ppm… do you get sick with food at 20ppm?
The food sensor is very interesting. How do you protect it from cross-contamination and clean it? Will you be able to get it OTC? Thanks GD for keeping us connected to all the good things in the celiac world.
Senza Gluten was WONDERFUL. My celiac partner almost cried when he realized he could order anything on the menu. From appetizers to dessert he loved it all! I loved it too, the fresh pasta was amazing. Thanks for the recommendation
